This site was created to try to pull together as many resources as possible to help people search for pets that were lost during Hurricane Katrina and then rescued and taken to a shelter.  We are not a site that helps you list your pet as lost, nor do we have any information about what houses have been searched, nor what pets have been found. We cannot help with pet rescuing. We are not affiliated with any organization or shelter, etc. listed on this site. We are just a group of volunteers, trying to list shelters and online information which may help in this pet-finding process.  Please contact the organizations or shelters on the lists provided in this site if you have any questions about tracking, ID numbers, how their sites/shelters are set up, what animals they have received, etc. **We cannot guarantee all shelters or individuals with Katrina pets are listed here, and we cannot guarantee that the listed shelters actually have Katrina animals.   Please check back frequently, as we update/add information throughout each day.

PLEASE NOTE: As of 2 November 2005, we are no longer researching shelters. If your shelter or organization has Katrina animals, please email your info to us and we will upload it. Otherwise, we will not be making additions to this website. The ASPCA has put together a list of shelters which you can ACCESS AT THIS URL (opens a PDF).

**IMPORTANT NOTE: This site has been developed by several people who have been trying to help with the pet rescue effort from the Katrina Hurricane.  The site contains many useful suggestions to help people find lost pets from the Katrina hurricane.  This is not a comprehensive (all-inclusive) list of every shelter or every way to search, because information changes daily, and many shelters have not reported information, at this point. We will try to update the site when we receive new information, and we hope this site will help you search for a pet. Please let us know if you have any additions or corrections to this list (see Contact Us, to the left).  We are sorry, but we are not able to help with individual requests to help locate a pet.
